Q: What is your turn-around time?
Our turn-around time is 4 - 5 business days from the time we receive your order. Holiday Card orders take several days longer, due to increased volume. This turnaround time does not include shipping.

Q: Can you print the cards in other languages?
Yes. We can print foreign languages provided they use Roman characters (the same characters as English). There is no additional charge for this service.

Q: Can I see a proof of the announcement-invitation before you complete the entire order?
Yes, we can send you a proof of your card for $5. Within 24 hours after we receive your order, we will print & ship your sample proof via Ups Ground*. We will also send you your envelopes at that time, if you did not pre-order them. Once you receive the sample you can call or email us with the "go ahead" and/or with any changes. If you are unsatisfied with the image, you may send us a new photo (there will be no extra charges).

  • Ups Ground service may take upto 5 - 6 business days depending on where in the U.S. you live. You may also request Ups 2 - Day Service for $12.
  • You may also choose to have us fax you a proof (of the text only) for $3.

Q: Can you print the cards shown on your site as invitations or for other occasions?
Yes, we custom print each order and can accommodate most requests. The photo style of announcement/invitation can be printed as a Birthday invitation, Holiday greeting card, Graduation invitation, etc. When filling out your order form, attach a separate piece of paper with your layout/text request. Vertical photo announcements/invitations allow for more space for text.

Q: What if I need more cards after I have received my order?
We hold your file and photo for 3 months after you placed your initial order. You can call in your re-order or email us at customerservice@alphabitsoup.com with your name and phone number, how many cards you would like to re-order and what type of shipping you would like us to use. If you provided us with your credit card information on your original order, we will use the same credit card. If you paid by check, please provide us with your credit card info in the email or by phone.

Q: Can I get my envelopes in advance?
Yes. Use our online preorder env. form or contact us at 888-400-2229 M-F 9am - 4.30pm. We ship them out Ups Ground within 3 - 5 business days after receiving your envelope order.

Q: Do you accept digital Images for the photo announcement via the internet?
Using a digital camera . . .

  • Image should be sharp, clear, good lighting (babies face is not in a shadow) & light or white background
  • Set your camera on the highest resolution
  • Save your image as a jpg file in color or black & white. (Most digital cameras save it automatically as a Jpg. file)
  • Do not crop your images - we will crop them to fit our 5 x 7 inch format
  • Resolution of 72 - 100 dpi & no less than 10 x 14 inches in size (If you are unsure about the size - download the image directly from the digital camera.)
  • Images from a photo CD do not produce well, unless the photo CDs provide you with high resolution images
  • Images from a VIDEO camera do not produce well. (Images from a high-res. digital camera work best.)
Using a scanner to scan a photograph . . .
  • Image should be sharp, clear, good lighting (baby's face is not in a shadow) & light or white background.
  • Save your image as a jpg file in color or black & white
  • Do not crop your images - we will crop them to fit our 5 x 7 inch format.
  • Scan your photograph at 300 dpi and at 130% of the original size for a 4 x 6 photo

Q: What type of photograph should I submit to achieve the best results, for the photo announcements?

  • What type of photograph should I send?
    • The photographs you submit can be in color or black & white, we convert them to black & white, and print in black & white only.
  • What should the baby wear?
    • Light or white clothing on a white or light colored background work best. Eliminate any unwanted objects in the background. Avoid dark backgrounds
  • What if the photo is blurry?
    • It is very important that the photo is in sharp focus! Blurry photo = blurry and grainy image
  • Do you cut the photograph?
    • No. We crop it to best fit our 5 x 7 format after scanning it into our system
  • Do you zoom-in on the baby's face?
    • We can zoom in only about 20% to eliminate some background and focus on the baby. If you want a close up of the baby's face, make sure to take a close-up photo. Most 35mm & digital cameras allow you to zoom in and take a sharp focus photo
  • Can you touch-up the photo or eliminate "red-eye"?
    • We do minor photo manipulations, such as cropping, touching up blemishes/baby rash and eliminating dust spots. We can not crop out a hand holding the baby or objects close to the baby's image. "Redeye" usually disappears once converted to B&W.
    • I do not want holes drilled through the baby's IMAGE... REMEMBER to leave room at the top (approx. 2") when taking the photo. We will do our best to avoid drilling holes through the baby's image.
  • What if we used a professional photographer?
    • If you submit a photo taken by a professional photographer - include a letter of permission from the photographer permitting us to reproduce the photo
  • Do I get my photographs back?
    • We send you back all your photographs with your order.

Q: What is your Return Policy?
We take time in proofreading, and printing each order individually. We want you to be completely satisfied with your cards!

  • If we make a mistake on your order from the information you provided, we will re-print your order with the corrections and ship then to you as soon as possible.
  • If you provided us with incorrect information, unclear information, or you are not happy with the photo you sent us, we will be happy to work with you to correct the problem and the additional charges that incur.
  • If you are unhappy with your order, you may return it in its entirety, in original condition, for a refund within 1 week of receiving your order. The refund amount is your order total less shipping charges and a non-refundable set-up charge of $20 for photo cards and $10 for all other cards.
